Guyana Missions Letter

I would like to take a moment and let you know of an awesome ministry opportunity that the Lord has given me this year. During last year's Missions Conference my Pastor challenged me to not only financially support other missionaries, but to also consider actively being a missionary. We are all called to go, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." and the Regions Beyond Missions Outreach of Faith Baptist Church is allowing the members of Faith to fulfill God's call.

The Regions Beyond Missions Outreach is a missions project dedicated to the task of personally evangelizing and equipping multitudes with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Beginning in April of 2008, and each month following for five months, teams will be departing to the mission fields of Honduras, Mexico, India, Australia, and Guyana for two weeks of evangelistic outreach, leadership training, summer Bible clubs, youth outreach and worker training, Scripture distribution, discipleship training, and tract distribution.

In January, I received my letter of acceptance for the Guyana missions team. Much prayer went into the consideration of my involvement in this project, and I am now beginning the process of preparing spiritually, physically, and financially to go to the mission field of Guyana.

On August 11, 2008 the fifth missions team will be sent out from Faith Baptist Church to Guyana, South America. The team and I will be returning back home on August 25, 2008. This mission trip will involve much travel by vehicle, boat, and on foot. We will be working with the veteran missionaries Greg and Wendy Mann, the team will go from village to village, strengthening and developing local mission works through leadership training, special ladies meetings, children's programs, teaching and preaching, and distributing tracts, New Testaments, and other materials.

Guyana lies north of the equator, in the tropics, and is located on the Atlantic Ocean. It is bordered on the east by Suriname, to the south and southwest by Brazil, and to the west by Venezuela. Culturally, Guyana is more associated with the Caribbean than with Latin America, as it is the only English speaking country in South America.

My portion of the financial obligation to this project is $1,250.00, to be raised of my own means. This allows me the opportunity to involve others, and hopefully inspire them to consider such a missions endeavor for their own lives or ministries. This is quite a project Faith Baptist Church is taking on. Not only is there a lot of money that needs to be raised, but a lot of work is ahead of us as we prepare for each trip: New Testaments to collate and bind, teaching materials to be prepared, and supplies to be gathered. Although any financial help will be greatly appreciated more than anything else I ask for your prayers.
